Despo is an Urban Designer at One Architecture + Urbanism in New York City. She holds a Bachelor‘s and a Master’s degree in Architecture from the National Technical University of Athens and a Master of Science in Architecture and Urban Design from Columbia University as a Fulbright Scholar.
At Columbia, she was awarded the GSAPP Prize for excellence in Urban Design for the most outstanding body of work. Despo has taught at Columbia GSAPP’s Urban Design program and has been a Guest critic at Parson’s New School of Design, City College of New York and Columbia GSAPP.
At One Architecture + Urbanism, Despo focuses primarily on coastal resilience and environmental adaptation. Her primary focus are the two coastal resilience projects that came out of the Rebuild By Design winning proposal BIG U/Dryline that reshape the future coastline and urban environment of Lower Manhattan.
Most recently, Despo was selected as one of the Design Research Fellows of the Institute for Public Architecture to research and design on the topic of Live/Work for the Workforce.
